What is ABS plastic? Properties and applications of ABS plastic
What is ABS plastic?
ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) belongs to the group of virgin plastics, plastic beads are used as a rubber substitute in some applications.
Characteristics of ABS Plastic:
- ABS has a temperature range of -250C to 600C as a thermoplastic granule, melting at around 105C.
- Acrylonitrile (15-35%), Butadiene (3-30%), and Styrene (40-60%) are the three components of ABS resin.
- ABS plastic beads are waterproof and insulating.
- ABS plastic beads are distinguished by their impact resistance and toughness. At low temperatures, its impact resistance and toughness change insignificantly, and its stability under the effect of gravity is excellent.
- ABS plastic is easy to electroplate, easy to process, inexpensive, comes in a variety of models and types, has a long service life, and is less damaged by environmental factors. ABS plastic does not withstand high temperatures, moisture and aging resistance are both averages.
Applications of ABS plastic:
- ABS plastic beads are used in a variety of applications due to properties such as electrical insulation and unlimited injection molding ability.
- ABS is used in the electronics industry as the shell of equipment, some accessories, as an insulator, such as the shell of an electrical outlet, electrical panel, and so on.
- Making housings for refrigeration equipment in refrigeration engineering...
- In the automobile and motorcycle industries, some mechanical parts of automobiles and motorcycles are manufactured.
- Making containers, special packaging, and helmets in the packaging industry.
- Water pipes, gene pipes... are examples of building materials.
- Computer keys, phone cases, and other items are injection molded.
